moniker from the toll paid to cross the river - one old half penny. The bridge was the only pedestrian bridge on the Liffey until the new

The Millennium Spire |
As one of the more current devotional sites created at the Shrine, the illuminated 85-foot
tall Millennium Spire was dedicated in 1998 as a beacon of inspiration for a better world in the Third Millennium.
Thousands of votive candles, representing special prayer requests,
radiate within the candelarium at the base of the spire.

Old Chapter House at Christ Church Dublin |
Externally the cathedral seems to wander all over the hillside on which it
is built. After its initial completion the building was extended lengthwise rather
than upwards. There are remains in the grounds of a chapter house dating from the time it was a monastery church and the
original long choir was removed in the 1870s by G.E Street. |
